THE PROMISE OF HAPPINESS '. (Mt.5 ,1-12a)
There is no man that has as its main goal of life happiness, we are all looking for this precious commodity, we all want to be happy! Yet if we look around us, today more than ever we realize that on the face of people's happiness over sadness, worry that more serenity, more disappointment What a joy. It 'most likely cause of this negative situation is to the wrong path many have undertaken, under the illusion that would lead to happiness. Today's Gospel shows us the right path to happiness, the path of the Beatitudes which calls on all conversion. What has always been considered the greatest man of life, that is, the 'have', the "power" and "pleasure", you find that it is a disappointing road that leads to happiness and not elsewhere. That's why we call the Beatitudes a conversion! The apparent stupidity and weakness of the Beatitudes reveals the true wisdom and true power of Jesus' teaching The happiness that Jesus offers us in the Beatitudes is true for the simple reason that they do not trivialize life and not shut their eyes to the problem of evil. In contrast, the happiness that the world promises not take into account of all reality, pretends not to see the pain and suffering. Precisely because this is a misleading and false happiness. The Beatitudes the Lord offers look into the face of evil, take him head on, confront him and won with the weapons of love. Listening to the first beatitude compels us to search for the most current and dramatic human poverty, with the intent to be closer to these "brethren" as Jesus calls them, and with the knowledge that we will be judged on love. The bliss of being persecuted for the Gospel should make us open our eyes to the witnesses present who, in different parts of the world are dying because of Christ. This we must push their testimony to be credible witnesses and not "warm" as often happens.
